Song Analysis: "Like a Rolling Stone"
Performed by Bob Dylan
This week's song analysis is on the song "Like a Rolling Stone" performed by Bob Dylan, it was a known classic back in the day, and was a song my dad personally listened to a lot. This song is a somber one, all about how this girl used to have everything and now she's given it all away and become a 'rolling stone.' "Once upon a time you dressed so fine Threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you? People call say 'beware doll, you're bound to fall' you thought they were all kidding you you used to laugh about everybody that was hanging out Now you don't talk so loud now you don't seem so proud about having to be scrounging your next meal" As stated before, Bob is singing about this lady who used to be the talk of the town, used to have everything she wanted and had her life together, and now she's wasted it all. She's living on the street and scrounging for food and she is now completely forgotten to everyone else. This song is all about comparison, how it used to be for her, and now how she's fallen into the unknown for everyone's gaze.
Hi Seth, this font is kind of cool. I feel like this is as close as it gets to a Tim Burton blog. Rolling stone, such a good song. I agree with the message and think it is interesting how in this day and age people are more acceptable to the minimalist lifestyle. I wonder if the girl in the song chose to leave everything she had behind or lost it all somehow.
ReplyDeleteHey man good job on the post! I like the song you picked and what it was all about! Its got a good tune and sounds very happy!
ReplyDeleteGreat post by the way! This song makes me a little sad, the story about the woman wasting her life away. Once he knew her but now she is not the same person. It's a very mellow song if I don't pay attention to the lyrics. This song makes you feel deeply with just the words. The rhythm is great and it is a good song to vibe to when you're feeling low. Bob Dylan's voice is awesome, he comes in at just the right times in the song. The tune stays the same pretty much throughout the song unless the harmonica comes in. The harmonica does add a little country edge to the song, it's great I actually enjoy those parts of the song.
